Program Overview
The Victor Valley Union High School District Police Department Explorer Program is a youth leadership and career development program that provides young adults with hands-on experience in law enforcement and public service.
Through mentorship from our officers and professional staff, Explorers develop valuable life skills while gaining insight into the responsibilities and expectations of modern policing.
Explorers Have Opportunities To:
- Learn about careers in law enforcement and public safety.
- Develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Participate in community service projects and district events.
- Assist officers during community outreach activities.
- Attend leadership conferences and regional Explorer competitions.
- Experience realistic training scenarios in a safe, educational environment.
- Build friendships with other motivated young people who share similar interests.

A Message from the Chief
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in the Victor Valley Union High School District Police Department Explorer Program.
Our Explorer Program is one of the most rewarding investments we make in the future of our community. It is designed for young men and women who are interested in law enforcement, public service, leadership, and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Whether an Explorer ultimately chooses a career in policing or another profession, the lessons learned through this program - integrity, accountability, teamwork, discipline, and service - will benefit them for a lifetime.
At the Victor Valley Union High School District Police Department, we believe that leadership is developed through experience. Explorers work alongside our officers at community events, school functions, training exercises, and volunteer opportunities, gaining firsthand exposure to the professionalism and dedication required in public safety. They also participate in scenario-based training, physical fitness, leadership development, competitions, and mentorship opportunities designed to build confidence and character.
Our program is about much more than learning police work. It is about developing responsible young adults who understand the value of service, respect for others, effective communication, and giving back to their community. We strive to create an environment where every Explorer is challenged, supported, and encouraged to become the best version of themselves.
